We believe artists are powerful agents for positive change. The Artist Social Impact Grant is an annual program that supports and empowers visual artists during the inception phase of a community-oriented project that is separate from, but can be related to, their art practice. We are interested in supporting projects that expand narratives, celebrate human connections, and provide pathways to community engagement beyond conventional art systems. Relevant projects utilise social forms, rather than exclusively traditional studio media or making processes, and should propose critical interventions that help create systemic change. The ethos behind this grant is to encourage artists whose main practices are not exclusively social to take risks pursuing transformative projects, even when they may be arduous and taxing on their studio practice, time, and bank accounts.
Candidates are nominated by a group of arts professionals and artists, and will be invited to submit proposals for consideration.
Grants are one-time, unrestricted funds given directly to artists in order to realise a fully conceptualised project. In addition to direct financial support for the artist, the Foundation will provide access to networks and other resources to best realise and sustain the project.
