angela abiodun is a writer and arts administrator. Presently, they work as the Programs Coordinator of Arts & Pedagogy for The Laundromat Project, preparing to welcome the organization’s 20th Create Change Fellowship and Residency Cohort in 2026. Grounded in the pedagogical and philosophical educational considerations of Paulo Freire and Assata Shakur, angela has been practicing their liberatory approach to education for 15 years through initiatives like The Young People’s Project, the Paulo Freire Project, Iyengar Yoga Detroit, and Trade School. They have participated in fellowships with Litmus Press and The Poetry Project, and their recent writing includes a series of letters to the descendants of indigo dyers, particularly in the Black/African diaspora. Their chaplet Cobblestone Lined Walkways Expect Sprawling Grass Between Them (Belladonna* Collaborative, 2023) considers their body in relation to society and the natural world. angela holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Pratt Institute as well as an MA in Educational Studies with a focus in Educational Leadership and Policy and a BA in Psychology and Sociology—both from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor.
